This will be my 1st Carlisle . My purpose for attending this is to meet the people of tdreplica.com . I plan on doing this on Saturday . Will everyone be around or will they be attending events that are planned . One of my favorite things is flea markets where I plan on spending some time.

Being a 1st time new bee at Carlisle, I don’t want to miss anything our group is doing.  That said, I have couple questions.  Are we just tagging along with the speedster guys or since we have about 10 of us are we going to try and organize our own dinners and tours etc.  Does Bruce know we have that many coming, and is his group ok with that?  Wife and I are planning to come about 1/2 way Thur and get there hopefully around noon Friday.   The Civil War museum sounds fun and the cruises along with the dinners and get-to-gethers.    Also are we going to get club shirts this year, I know several of you got them last year?

Greg…Saturday, everyone will be at the show field. The TDs will be parked with the Speedster group. Impossible to miss us. Saturday is also the big day for the vendor area.

Roy…yes, Bruce knows how many of us are coming. And he just let me know about one more TD, Stuart and Amy Hilliard are waiting for a SAS Speedster to be built. Meanwhile, they are trailering their MG from Texas.

Last year, after the Friday cruise, Wobby and Mrs. Wobby had dinner for the TD group at their mobile home. Some of us did the cruise with the Speedsters and them headed back to the fairgrounds for dinner.

How many will be signing up for the Autocross on Saturday? Ed, you need to compare before and after time slips. We should be able to “reserve” a block of time again with Henry on Friday evening.

Bill (& all) I am planning on trying the autoX again, but everything depends upon my getting the old girl back together before then. I’ve done very little the past six weeks and, Thursday, we learned my newspaper was getting bought out by the cross-town rival. The good news is I’ll probably still have a job. That is also the bad news, along with the fact that moving is very likely going to mean more hours in…

    Anyway: welding.

Is there some reason that we now have two Carlisle threads?  What happened to the good old Carlisle 2014 thread?

Hopefully Paul can merge the two.

    @pmossberg

Yes Roy there IS a reason.

I specifically set up this thread to highlight and communicate the information that Bruce needs from all attendees. I did not want that message to be buried five pages into the Carlisle weekend thread.

    THAT is why.

And NO, I am not merging the threads.

    Hello to Carlisle Attendees,

I called the SOG Hotel for reservations two weeks ago and could only get Thurs & Fri, Sat was booked solid. So I made reservations at another Courtyard Marriott several miles away.

Roy (Royal) suggested I canvass the membership to find out if anyone was going separately and wanted to share a room.

I am currently building an FF/CMC Ford TD, am new to the Club, and would really appreciate the camaraderie and access to other members and information.

Giving this a bump up because I do not see many of the MG guys on Bruce’s master list.

    Paul,

Do you have any idea of the Civil War tour on Friday?  We will be getting there some time Friday but not sure what time, hopefully in the AM.  I’d like to do the Friday AM cruse too but doubt if we get there in time for it.  I’ll have to put the drive shaft back together not sure how long that will take yet, weather has kept me from doing much as far as doing a test removal.  I do have the tow bar and mounts about finished though.

Also, are we (TD group) doing our own dinner on Saturday or a table or two at the Speedsters dinner?

As far as the autoX, I’ve never done one but might want to try???  Do I need to pre-register for it? Do I need any safety equip ie: helmet or roll bar or???

    Thanks Montie

All activity details are in the Speedster forum thread already linked to above (twice, I’m just sayin’ Wink)

Last year we attended the Saturday banquet.

I am attending this year. But that’s my choice. I’m not speaking for the group.

But for what it’s worth, take a look at the Carlisle souvenir thread that I posted, you will see SOG has most certainly included our MG group. I strongly recommend ya’ll support them.

    Thumbs UpOh…the Auto-X…

You need a helmet (not sure what safety standard it must meet, I recall 2010 certification or later, but again, I’m not sure. You need a secure battery hold-down bracket. If your battery is just sitting there, you won’t run. You do not need a roll bar. Clear the car of all loose items. And hubcaps must be removed.

And if you are Ed…you strip your car of anything and everything else that is just weight: bumpers, spare tire…you name it!

I think last year, our autocrossers registered while at the show, together, so that they could run together.

Montie, yes “you need a helmet” but you don’t need to buy one.  They had enough loaners at the check in table to accommodate all of us that “raced” last year.  I’d say, if you’ve got one bring it, but otherwise, don’t worry.

I just sent Bruce a email with all the info.  I’ll send check later this week.  Only helmet I have on hand is a Bell from the late 60’s, my Motor Cycling days.   Guessing that won’t pass.

    Montie,

That would look cool though – might get away with it – they did not check the spec’s on my own but plenty to barrow if needed. I had to buy my own because of my extra large melon.

There are no formal plans for Firday night dinner (other than some recommendations from the locals), so timing is open.

That said, the Friday schedule from Bruce (SOG’s hard working planner) shows a 5:30 photo session in the Marriott parking lot and dinner around 6:00.

The links in earlier posts bring you to the full schedule thread on the SOG forum.
