On all the VWs I have ever worked on there has always been a stud on the driver’s side rear axle fork except on my TDRs VW chassis (1971.) So I got the hanger bolts to attach the grounds and the wire from the transaxle to the ground stud. While checking the pan one last time, I noticed on the passenger side, where the battery goes, not only was there a threaded connection for the battery ground, there was also a capped threaded stud about an inch and a half towards the center of the pan. Never have I seen this. Is this standard for a 71 VW pan? If so it answers a big question I’ve had on the grounding strap.
