    @oldmanrocks

    I was given a classic roadster duchess/ work in progress project car.  Its on a 85 chevette chassis.  The car will only start in neutral not in park.  Any Ideas?

    Also have been trying to remove the gear shift knob to replace but it will not budge… Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Well, an automatic is unique. Make sure the shifter is adjusted correctly and the circuit is complete while in the park position. If that’s the case than the neutral safety switch would be suspect.

    The gear shift knob is held on by some splines it takes a little force but it will come off . I removed mine and made a wooden handle for it, and the emergency brake ,turn signal .

    on the neutral safety switch i would check that first.

    Very nice woodworking. I think,”As much wood as possible.” I made a wood shift lever knob similar to yours, but just haven’t gotten around to putting it on. I guess I think it turned out so well, I’m afraid it’ll break!

    WOOD IS GOOD!
