Allen, the signals do work. I must not have had the key on. Thought I did.
Ed, thanks. I’ll check that next.

I found a station about 24 miles from me that has non-ethanol fuel. Guess this is a good reason to build a fuel tank to keep 20 gallons or so on hand.

I’d follow the negative battery terminal to the spot on the chassis where it’s bolted. Remove the bolt, clean the metal where it’s bolted through, and put it back. Clean the battery terminals as well—both of them. Then see if she starts.

Well I found a local rebuilder in Layton, NJ named Hullco, but it took almost six months to completely rebuild by engine. Removing the fuel pump and drive shaft from the opening to the distributor, when I changed to an electric fuel pump did ruin by main bearings as I was warned in an earlier forum topic.
I picked up the engine in early…[Read more]

If at all possible, I highly recommend burning “real” old fashioned gasoline. NOT ethanol! Ethanol shelf life is a maximum of 90 days:

Another round of parts should start trickling in here soon…
Rebuild kit for my 30 PICT 2, PerTronix Flame-Thrower Vacuum Advance distributor, plugs and wires, new vacuum and fuel hoses, fuel filter and fuel shutoff valve.
I figured a Seafoam treatment of the fuel during the off-months is best and dealing with fuel in the oil from an o…[Read more]

Sam. I believe the turn signals don’t get power until the ignition switch is on. In VWs, the wire colors run as follows: red is power “all the time”, black is power with ignition switch on and brown is ground.
It may be the voltage regulator had a wire come loose. Check all connections for security. After that…I’m at a loss.
My .02 cents worth.

Paul, yes the charger is connected to the battery cable clamps. When the charger is connected to the battery I have lights only( parking , head lights and tail lights). No turn signals, no horn, etc.

Not suggesting a solution yet, but have a question that might help the diagnosis…
When the charger is hooked up, do lights, signals and other accessories work?
And when you attach the charger, I assume you are putting the charger clips on the battery cable clamps (that is, not directly on the battery posts) ?

Putting this one on hold. Not willing to call it RESOLVED but perhaps not a priority.

The most important being to manually include the “WebWiz” import code that allowed us to migrate from the old forums. This code might actually be able to be removed at some point and make the update process easier. It’s really only used for those that have not changed their…[Read more]

Finally got back on the site. Have not been able to login with former ID and PW so finally just re-registered. Have moved to San Antonio and have had my MGTD replica (VW based) parked in the garage for over 2 months. It was starting and running when parked and now I get nothing when I turn the key. I thought the battery was dead, but I connected…[Read more]

Howdy,
The fella that runs the Fiberclassics Facebook page posted he’s trying to sell an info pack for a Fiberfab MIGI II and I thought I’d let everyone here know in case they’d be interested. Doesn’t list a price.
