Like the subject line says, of all the VW-based TDs that use the VW gas tank, are any of you using the vent tube coming off the filler neck? If so, where do you route the hose from the vent tube? This message will self distruct in seven seconds. (Oh am  telling my age now!) Big smile

Allen, Mine is hooked up.  Nothing fancy, just a piece of tubing running through a hole drilled in the fiberglass close to the tank.  Straight down.

Yeah: hook it up. If you can, loop it so the top of the loop is above the top of the cap. Then run it down.

This topic has been much discussed under heading “gas smell.” The problem is the gas sloshes and some often gets in the tube and dribbles out. hence the loop. The other fix is to plumb a little charcoal canister into it.

On my MiGi, I route the vent tube around the filler neck for 1 turn then up on the backside of the tank so the vent tube is above the point that it is tapped into the the filler neck, then down.  Found this prevent gas sloshing out the vent tube.

Okay so you guys are using the vent tube. I kept the expansion cannister from the front of the donor beetle and have an extra charcoal canister from the Ghia I sold. Alsp have the metal tube that runs down the LH side of the body to the engine compartment. I guess I’ll hook up the system and figure out a place for the cannisters.

    Thanks guys.
