I am based in South Africa and have a 1952 MGTD replica.
Its fitted with a Ford 2.0l motor mated to a five speed gearbox.
It has VW beetle tail lights.
You can get a view of it under photo gallery – DavidP. Can post additional pics if needed.
Can someone tell me what make replica it may be.
November 21, 2009 at 5:26 pm #240070David, It looks like a FiberFab to me . What causes me to question myself is all the FiberFab front engine kits I have seen are designed with wider fenders than the ones on your car. It may be the only right hand drive MGTD replica I have seen as well. Whatever it is ,it is a great looking car and I’m sure it is a very rare item in that part of the world.Good luck with your identification.
November 21, 2009 at 5:32 pm #240071Nice car avid.
It looks like a FiberFab to me also.
What is the badge under the engine cover, on the car’s left side of teh firewall?

November 22, 2009 at 10:56 am #240072David, I agree with everyone, Fiberfab. I feel I am looking at my Fiberfab. Same headlight mounts, minor body differences. Like Larry said, your fenders are slightly narrower, yet they are out slightly further from the engine enclosure than mine. Beautiful automobile.
Be sure to join the registry by clicking on the link in Paul’s message footer, I’ll be very happy to add another continent to the map . That will be awesome.
November 22, 2009 at 8:33 pm #240073David Could it be Rich Industries made in Port Elizabeth S.A. DanR.
July 25, 2010 at 6:35 pm #240074I was in south africa and built a 52 td that was a left over from rich
industries in port elisbeth. It was not a kit. send me pictures and I will tell you if it was the one I built. George geofran@hotmail.com
July 26, 2010 at 1:18 pm #240075Guys…aren’t the FiberFab/CMC cars all built with the front fenders molded with half an “apron”…the apron under the grille shell? So, that leaves a “split” in that apron? That used to be the dead give away to identify FiberFab/CMC TD’s.
Both of my CMC cars, one Ford based and the other VW based, had these split aprons. The Ford version fenders were about 2.5″ wider that the VW too.
July 26, 2010 at 2:37 pm #240076I think that all the kits with the split front apron are Fiber Fab /CMC, but I think some of the early Fiber Fab kits used a front apron that was raised on the left side to clear the steering box and column extension, and was bolted to the fenders. An example of this is the Leprechan that is in the for sale ad on the forum. However ,I don’t know if we ever identified that car as a Fiber Fab for sure. It may have been after FF and CMC merged that they went to the split apron.
It would be really if the car in question is the same one that George417 built.
July 27, 2010 at 12:09 pm #240077Larry, I was thinking the same thing myself. What a coincidence if it is!
July 27, 2010 at 1:43 pm #240078My fiberfab has the battery well on the passenger side and of course my steering wheel is on the drivers side (left side of the car)
September 2, 2010 at 10:47 am #240079This possibly is a Fiberfab Ford MIGI. Apparently, just before they were bought by CMC they had prototyped a Ford Pinto MG. It used all of the Fiberfab MIGI main fiberglass parts. The fenders were not widened nor were they extended to eliminate the front splash panel. Because of this you had to use smaller tire than on the Ford CMC/FF kits and there were other differences as well. Normally fiberfab marked all kits with some form of identification on the bulkhead above the firewall. I have only seen 2 of these Ford Fiberfab kits. And Fiberfab was molded into the bulkhead
