I know. It’s completely disheartening to see the devastation up there, that was also my old stomping grounds as a kid growing up, living in NYC and then years later, living in NJ right across from mid Manhattan for 35 years before I moved to Florida. It’s hard to see those pictures and videos, but those people are survivors and can still be…[Read more]

Just protect your cars, screw the house. It’s easier to repair the house than a crushed TD.If you’re worried about flooding, get it up on blocks. There’s going to be a LOT of rain for a few days up there, and 30-40mph winds. The people up North aren’t as well prepared or mentally ready for this kind of thing, we down here just pass it off (after…[Read more]

The price is what anybody’s willing to pay for it. So reach for the moon, who knows who’s out there with extra cash to burn. If somebody actually bought that for the asking price of $150,000, you can be sure the seller would be pissed that he didn’t ask for $175,000 or $200,000.

The MGs weren’t the only English cars made of wood – The Morgans were too, and still are, even the frames.

I love my patina – very authentic (old) looking, and it matters not how much I compound it or wax it, it still looks the same, So I am just laving it that way and wash it off every once in a while to preserve its’ look.

I have the lower tin in place, and have closed off the small gaps between it and the body with tape (have been looking for high temp foam), and made a crude firewall out of a piece of galvalume sheet metal roofing material cut out here and there so the carb throttle cable and the fuel line pass through, screwing that into the fiberglass of the…[Read more]

My speakers are 2 mounted up forward into the firewall facing into the car and 2 mounted facing forward in the boxes under the seats.

I got a radio for my car for about $50 at Walmart and it’s as good as anything out there, and it fit perfectly into the cutout that was already in the dash. With all the noise our cars make, in addition to the wind, there’s little sense in spending an exorbitant amount of money on something you cannot hear well anyway. If it’s a retro look you…[Read more]

There’s much more stress on the windshield in that case with the wind from astern rather than from the front of the car, and I was going to mention that too. that I’d be afraid because of the angle of the glass and the trapping of air, that the windshield would get ripped off or blown out. There are innumerable reasons that that trailer is not…[Read more]

There’s no springs on that axle, it’s mounted directly to the frame, which would give a real rough and bouncy ride to the whole rig.The mechanism that locks the trailer bed level, keeps it from pivoting, looks pretty light and flimsy. Like mentioned, with all the weight on the rear of those rails from our rear engined cars, I would be wary of that…[Read more]

Greg – you should remove that box and plug up the hole in the top of the shroud with some metal (may be able to pop rivet something on there). While you may be getting slightly more air blown into the carb, you are losing cooling air out through that hole instead of it blowing down the driver’s side of the shroud over the oil cooler and #3…[Read more]

Marc Lipsius replied to the topic fuel filter in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 8 months ago
Ethanol is how it’s spelled.Vapor lock occurs inside the fuel pump, NOT inside the fuel filter, (especially if the filter is after the pump). It occurs because the pump doesn’t work, because it can only pump liquid, not vapor). Here is just one simple reference – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vapor_lock . A contributing cause is ethanol in the…[Read more]

Dry bowls can be due to stuck or dirty needle valves not letting any gas get into the carbs.Have you checked the floats and needle valves in the carbs for smooth operation? Like the valves aren’t stuck shut prohibiting gas from flowing? If you take off the tops of the carbs and touch the needle valves, they should move up (closed) with no…[Read more]
