Even though it is an automatic stick will check that first. Was able to figure out some other problems. A mechanic friend of my son looked at it and helped with the carb install. He also set the timing and points etc. After rechecking them today, and looking at my “idiots” manual, found that he had…[Read more]

Hi to all,
It has been sometime since visiting the site, just been to busy. Still working on the engine (VW). I have fixed the problems with the carb, just put a new one on, amazing it worked! Then found out we had to put a new alternator in. What a job that was, but had fun doing it. I can actually get it to start now without a jump and i…[Read more]

Finally picked up our car from Baltimore. She is a beauty, will post some pics as soon as we get it cleaned up. Thanks for the advice on getting the Volkswagon – Alive manual. Has already paid for itself. The carb issue, well it was the carb itself so installing a new one tomorrow. A few other minor (I hope) projects and she will hum. Have…[Read more]

Good guess, yes it is the one in Kensington. I am not familiar with VW engines so this will definitely be a learning process, but we have a very good auto shop in this area and trust them. So….. Anyway thanks again for all the good info. Look forward to learning more and chatting with other members.

Rich and Ringo,
Thank you for such quick responses to my question. Yes it is a fully built car and runs, although the seller says there are some minor carb issues. Your responses are very helpful and gives us a good starting point.
Will be picking our “baby” up this Saturday and will post some pics as soon as I can.
Thanks again
