Looks like that huge hole going to the tank even making the 90* turn would carry the fuel.  Mine actually pushes fuel up past the nozzle and out the filler neck unless I barely dribble it in, very aggravating. This is how I fixed it, bolted corner braces to the top part then put rivnuts on the side to attach the top with the corner braces installed
