  • you know, I have never seen a Fiber Fab in real life and I don’t feel like driving eight and a half hours to be disappointed. So I was looking through the registry and noticed that “Sailor” is listed as living in a town about a half hour away from me. But I noticed that he has not been active on this site for quite some time. I called…[Read more]

  • Really!!! I didn’t know that! So, I wonder why my insurance agent was calling another agent than the company themselves.I will look around, I would rather cut out the middle man. Tends to be cheaper doing that. Thanks!

  • I hear ya Pmossberg. I live in an area that has a lot of retirees with lots of toys. When I called my local independant agent they only quoted Haggerty. For a lot of the reasons you stated.I just wonder if I can do any better going straight to Haggerty?

  • To clarify I have a lead on another Duchess, not that I have one now.Although my wife feels we need a his and hers. We have a 4 yr old and the car will only fit 2. I am not about to argue that thinking:-)Although I am thinking 1966 corvette ragtop for me!

  • That is my delima! For example, in the classifieds there is an unbuilt Duchess and 95% Fiber Fab. Same price. Kit, I can do it my way, but how do I know what is the right way? Most all of you have done modifications or tweaks or changed after the build.I also have a drivable Duchess that needs the finish brought back and replace top, same…[Read more]

  • It’s not just about hair, but also where we prefer the curves! I know “opinions are like………………..Harleys!!!!!!!………..everyones got one”. And I value everyones opinion before I jump into something blindly:-)

  • Michigan has no fault laws. My quote for the same as dggrant was twice the price.

  • Where are you planning on mounting it? What do you have for a fuel tank and where?

  • Thanks Royal!I just looked into Michigan’s historic plates and “Used only for events such as historical club activities, parades and car show” Is a bit too restrictive for me. No fun runs with the wife!!Thanks also, when they told me they had one at $42K I was wondering if I was way off base thinking 8K with a high of 12k?!?! Reading previous…[Read more]

  • So, if you have been following my other post, I am making preparation for the purchase of my first Replica Car and I am currently looking into insurance. I would like to have it insured for the trip home.I read all of the preceding post and tried to get a Quote from Hagerty, but I found it difficult in answering the questions.#1 is a Duchess a…[Read more]

I found that the tow dolly that I am looking to use has wells that will allow a minimum 43″. What is the inside distance between the wheel/tire of the rear of a Duchess or VW?I do plan on getting a tow bar because we do plan on taking it with us but being a new acquisition, I would feel more comfortable with only two wheels on the ground than all…[Read more]

  • I am wondering the same, since I will have to take one with me when I go to pick it up. I know during the Ford Escort era that there was a series that offered a lower profile. But if I remember right it was a little thicker front to back than a standard battery size.JeffMichigan’s Upper Peninsula

Oh, I’m sorry. It is a 1971 VW Powerplant. I do have access to a tow dolly but being a VW I was wondering if I could even load it backwards with the front wheels being the trailing wheels? I am not sure if I would have clearance difficulty getting it on the tow dolly.Jeff
