The "spare" is molded into the engine deck lid, and serves primarily to make room for the 2-barrel Weber carburetor. The actual spare is, of course, stowed up front, although it's never been on the ground and I'm thinking about just replacing it with a couple cans of Fix-A-Flat to save weight and make a little more room up there.
