Non kit car but a great video of Chrysler’s 1963 Turbine Car. Enjoy!

Nice. I remember reading about those in a magazine. Car Craft, maybe, in the ’80s. Thinking for the past 10 years that a scaled down turbine would be just the thing to run a hybrid-electric car today. The turbine runs to charge the batteries and on rare instances for boost. The thing would be essentially maintenance-free and, as Jay reminds us, it can run on any fuel that can burn with air.

You know, I have ridden in the Chrysler turbine car quite a few times.  in 1964 my best friend Calvin DeWitt’s mother won the use of one of the turbine cars for one year in a contest,  in Tucson AZ of all places. I guess they wanted to test it in the desert. It was a slick car but not good on gas mileage, as I recall.

Randy in Chandler Arizona, great B-bopp'in teritory. I must have the only one in the country made by Rich Industries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on a 1986 Ford Cortina (english ford escort) It's a 1600cc straight four cylinder front engne, 4 speed, changed from right side driver to left side with several shafts and u-joints. BEBOP because I once had an MGB with license plate MG-BEPOP in Virginia.

Great concept, but the people who tried to drive it were terrified of the engine’s ability to go over 44,000 rpms, and since the horsepower increased the faster you went there was effectively no top end.  All that on ’60’s tires and brakes.  Yikes!
