    Hey everybody!

Carlisle is set for May 15 next year, and this will be the last time I do the honors. I’ve set aside a block of rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott for us, and I’ll post the web link to that as soon as I get it. You can call the hotel and book under Speedster Owners Group in the meantime at 717-475-2044. The room rate is $129 this year for the king, $139 for two queens.

We will be coordinating once again with Andy Burger (AKA @PrickleyPete) of the awesome dune buggy group and he and I will be adding (hopefully) fun things to this thread and this outing in the coming months.

Meanwhile Mr. Cory Drake has taken the liberty to start designing a commemorative T-shirt for the event. This is his first draft and I think it’s swell. Chime in if you agree.

I believe, based on recent attendance, we’re going to have to press upon him the need to depict more MGs and dune buggies and fewer Speedsters and Spyders on this design. But we’ll see what develops.

Mr. Erickson! I just registered for Carlisle with my wife Sharon and looking forward to the event.  I’m not sure what hotel I’ll be staying at yet, but I’ll let you know later.  I assume we are still with the Speester group!

    see you then. Gregg

We usually stay as a group at the Courtyard Marriott in Mechanicsburg. They have given us a break on room rates and allowed use of their conference room for  us to hang out. Pricing has not been finalized for this year yet. Looking forward to it.

Ed, when we arrive in Carlisle, unfortunately we won’t be staying at the Marriott because of their pet policy. We will be staying at the La Quinta nearby in Mechanicsburg. Please keep us informed of any extra activities that weekend. I certainly hope for a good turnout for the club! See you soon and hoping for good weather! Gregg. greggstrain@icloud.com

And everyone else: Do not call the number I posted at the top of this thread. I made a mistake, that’s Mary’s personal cell phone. If you need to call the Courtyard Marriott, use their desk number: 717-766-9006

You can make a reservation using this link.

Those coming to Carlisle from points south on Thursday May 14 should consider meeting up with fellow travelers at Maggies in Westminster for lunch.

Rose and I will be leaving Thursday from Burtonsville, MD so it looks pretty much on way to Carlisle from there, so we would be interested.

    Received mine too!

Sad, there is no reserved show field space for the Speedster Owners Group. Guess the numbers have dropped too far.

    @edsnova

A clutch of us are heading up Thursday (5/14) afternoon and I believe the count right now is Kelly, me, Paul, Glen and Al and Rose Grieg lunching at Maggie’s in Westminster noonish. @Jeni Drake and Cory are TBD.

@East Coast Bruce says he’s coming with a new guy (or couple?) So they’re invited to Maggie’s too if Thursday’s their trip. From other directions, Paul Mossberg says he’s coming, Bill Ascheman is coming and David Kumpf is camping with the Buggy People.

Thursday dinner at the Pizza Grill unless folks want something else.

So Friday by 9 AM we’ll deploy to the show field so as to get in line with the dune buggies for the cruise to the Carsonville Hotel, about an hour on back roads, for lunch. We’ll head back after lunch and those in the mood can come with me and line up at the K1 track for a little kart-racing action (not sure if they still have axe-throwing).

Showfield activities on Saturday include a parade lap and Toys for Tots dropoff. Bring a new unwrapped toy for that if you wanna.

I have an optional lunch cruise in my pocket for Saturday for those who want to book out of the show field. Blue Buffalo TavernScreenshot 2026-05-03 at 12.54.27 PM

Saturday dinner is the dog party. These people can cook.

Just a thought Ed: My definition of a weatherman – “What other job pays so much to be wrong so often?” Fiction and fact from Gregg’s Almanac. But the forecast looks good and we’re planning on going – safe travels everyone, see you Friday….

Well, I think that went OK, considering the weather. It was great to see Paul at the event again. And special thanks to Gregg & Sharon Strain and Al & Rose Greig for rolling in from heroic distances.

FYI, next year the plan is to integrate more tightly with the buggy group. Andy Burger (aka Prickly Pete) and I will approach the Carlisle management in the fall with a proposal. Basically, the idea is to get as many people as possible to sign up for the even under one “club name” because they comp the big groups their tents and furniture. It cost $265 to rent the tent two years ago, which was the last time I did so under Speedster Owners.

The Buggy guys had to pay as well this year. If we combinate we got a shot at getting one free.
