Episode first aired Monday November 11
Richard bought it for $800! Spent $400 getting it detailed…episode did not show the car getting sold.
But Gas Monkey’s web site says it is sold.

November 18, 2013 at 8:52 pm #258759Just saw the episode. Richard stole it. When it first showed up on the lot, he said he expected to get $5500 for it. Wish I was there.
November 19, 2013 at 9:52 am #258760I agree Roy.
Would love to know what it sold for.I did learn something interesting from the ads on their web site. They include a comment that, if you are interested in buying the car, and are interested in being on the show, to let them know. Sure makes it sound like when Richard sells a car on the show, the selling price is negotiated and agreed to in advance, and the segement that airs is scripted.Paul Mossberg

November 19, 2013 at 6:31 pm #258761The Gas Monkey MG is on Ebay right now. Bid is at $2800 currently with about 5 days to go.
November 19, 2013 at 8:01 pm #25876213 different bidders. It has a few visible flaws. Relatively minor except the cracked fiberglass on the left front fender which is hard to see in the photos provided. This one should be interesting to watch.

November 20, 2013 at 3:41 am #258764Do I need help? Yep, I guess I do ’cause I’m doing nothing different that I know of. Yet suddenly, all the gobbledygook shows up at the end. As my dad used to say, “I’m cornfused!”

November 20, 2013 at 8:00 am #258766Paul, I ran disk cleanup, then CCleaner, then fixed registry, then Avira, then Malwarebytes, then registry fixer again. Malwarebytes found a long list of things that it removed. If this post comes out clean, I guess I’m ok again. If not, – I’m stumped.
November 20, 2013 at 8:04 am #258767I dunno. Looks about like they do. Rear bumper is bent.
I think it is telling that they did not bother with the actual gas tank. They saw fit to buy a new steering wheel and carpet but left an outboard motor tank in it, which is probably not DOT-approved, then claimed it’ll get you 210 miles (unlikely). To me this can only mean that reglassing the original is tricky business, and/or the Gas Monkey guys are actually ass monkeys.Still, at $4k it’s probably not too bad a deal.November 20, 2013 at 10:06 am #258768Roy – you now qualify as a computer genius! The last post is clean!

November 20, 2013 at 10:35 am #258769Well, Fast and Loud disappoints me with their knowledge of VWs. From the eBay ad:
>>This very good example was built on a late model IRS chassis (???74 & later)<<The IRS chassis was ’69 and later, not ’74 and later. Not sure where that came from — it doesn’t even equate to Super Beetle McPherson strut suspension years.Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan
Slowly coming back from the ashes...November 20, 2013 at 6:09 pm #258770There was so much wrong about this ebay auction. I had asked the following questions soon after the listing first appeared on ebay:
“Sirs,I currently am the proud owner of a MGTD replica and am considering your Allison. Could you provide better and more detailed photos on the damage to the driver side front fender? Also, were I to win the bid, I would be towing about 2000 miles with my VW tow bar. Is the front suspension stock VW? Please provide a picture of the front suspension, from just in front of the car looking up. Please also provide the engine number which is located on the bottom of the pedestal that supports the alternator. Also, please give your estimate the condition and age of the tires.Thank you, Roy”Never did get a response. I agree with Kent. I am disappointed with Fast & Loud.
Very poor listing. Now, it shows that “the auction is ended because the item is no longer available”. -
