I have own a BCW Model 52 MG TD Schweppes Special Edition w/85 Chevy Chevette running gear. I would like to make the vehicle more highway friendly and rid the vehicle of the torque tube and have a drive shaft w/a little length.  I have been exploring the idea of a Chevy S-10 rear end with the leaf springs.  Consensus is?

Not familiar with the Chevette rear suspension. If it uses leaf springs, then you should be able to swap anything that will physically fit. If the spring perches and overall width is compatible, go for it. Try to stay with comparable bolt pattern with the wheels. Get a rear with disc brakes if you can.

Most people use the S10 rear and weld the Chevette mounts, etc. to it.  There is a Chevette forum and you can usually get an answer there.     http://members.boardhost.com/Vette_Man/

Also, if your drive shaft has only one u-joint,  you need to add another.  The rubber mount at the forward end of the torque tube is probably in disrepair.  If so, they are available, but expensive.

Yes. Alpha Romero sport rear end is almost a bolt-in. See my post in “Chevy 2.2L Dutchess” Page 6 for my install.

I’m still having issues posting pictures otherwise I’d put some here. But page 6 has pix.
