I hate to ask this of you folks, but I am dealing with my parents’ estate. Dad had a replica that I need to determine value on.
It’s a 1971 VW bug chassis. It sat in a garage since late 90’s and I’ve done some work on it to get it running again. It still needs adjusting to help run smoothly, but it starts and idles, however rough. I put a hard start relay in to get to this point.
I can submit pictures if that helps.

Valuation questions are very difficult to answer, as you might have guessed by the lack of responses to your post.
I have seen folks asking $15k and even higher. I think that’s unreasonable. You can get a fairly clean, drivable original TD for that money.
For a clean, running TDr, $5 to $10k seems to be in the ballpark. But it better be a very nice car to get $10k or to cross over that line.
On the low end, I’ve seen drivable cars with asking prices of only a few thousand.
Do I wish for all of you that prices were higher? Of Course! I simply don’t see it right now.
The above are my opinions, having been around these cars since 1981. Others may disagree. But at least I tried to answer. 🙂

Around here in Norther VA I have seen a few on FB MP in the 7,500 to 10,000 mark but every nice and ready to go with no or very few issues. They don’t go quick because I have seen them posted for awhile. My guess a sort of running car that looks nice would be 3,500 – 5,000.
