I have the lower tin in place, and have closed off the small gaps between it and the body with tape (have been looking for high temp foam), and made a crude firewall out of a piece of galvalume sheet metal roofing material cut out here and there so the carb throttle cable and the fuel line pass through, screwing that into the fiberglass of the…[Read more]

There you go!Sheet metal and pop rivets have been a way of life for me 35 years running.

But the engine compartment on the kit car isn’t shaped like a beetle . . . so . . . big holes. I broke down and used BC Autowerks in Ogden UT. They provided stock parts and some creative handcrafted parts for the gaps and the . . . what? . . . firewall?
Now my fuel doesn’t boil and I can check my oil. Thanks for your feedback. -

I agree. For the price, it makes no sense to keep the old drum on one side.

Funny. My TD was bracketed by two Spyders. The TD looks huge in comparison!

Yah, me too. Karen took that one. You can tell because I’m in it. One of the things I like most about the shot is that both people pictured are wearing WWII leather pilot’s helmets. But for the dang pickup truck you could almost think the pic was taken in 1955, maybe lining up for the start of a race.Couple hood numbers…some tape on the…[Read more]

Here’s a shot from the Pumpkin run I cropped for possible calendar use. If only that white pickup wasn’t there in the background–or better yet, if only it was an early ’50s GMC . . .
Make it look a bit old…olde

Chilly? When I left for the Pumpkin Run last Saturday, the air temp was 37. Top down, add a bit of wind chill at 65 mph…and I could see my breath for the first hour and a half on the road! I’d have killed for “the weather here on the southern NC coast is just cool enough to have a hoodie on this afternoon.” 🙂 Yes, I’m jealous!!!! Ed, I was one…[Read more]

Thanks for all the input gang. I really do appreciate it. After considering your input and considering all the pros and cons I decided to go with two new brake drums. Checked several parts houses and found a seller on ebay selling new drums for 47.39 each with free shipping so I ordered two. Although I’m really anxious to get Moeypenny built and…[Read more]

The brake manufacturers will tell you to replace them in pairs due to the variance in the thickness of the metal and heat distribution.I do sell single drums to garages all the time for their customers working on price alone. With a new rear drum apx. $60 I think it’s your call.

OK, boys. Send me your pictures. Remember: phone shots are too small. Need decent sized files to print big with enough detail for the calendar. With your permission I’ll do the same thing as last year–mock one up and post it for comment, then do whatever I decide.Last chance for someone to steal the project from me and hog all the glory!
