I’ve been contemplating wading into these waters. I’ll probably wait until after VA Beach. I do need something better than the padded box top that’s been in there since day one. I need something to minimize lateral sliding during the hillclimbs. I can see more fiberglass work and some welding in my future..

As of a few minutes ago, 1 pound = $1.29

Good find, Royal. They have lots of goodies, even roll cages.
They are in Great Britain so the prices would neat to be figured for dollar against the pound. Last time I figured it was about $1.55 to 1 pound. Also I wonder about the shipping costs.

Over the years I have seen many postings from those attempting to change/modify/improve their seats. This morning I was browsing for nothing in particular for my Classic Mini and came across these which may work for…[Read more]

Maybe check the O ring around the shaft on the new distributor. I had the same problem with mine and I put the old O ring on the new unit and it dropped right into place. Hope this helps.

Maybe post a couple pics? I installed a Pertronix a couple years ago and it doesn’t sound like the same kit.

A 195/65-15 is about the same diameter as a 185/75-14: 25 inches.

Ed (and onyone else who may stumble upon this),
The 14 inch tires I currently have on mine are p185 75 r14.
If I keep the 14 inch wheels I have the tallest tire I can find is a Continental Vanco 8 at 185 80 r14 (which I think is what Mercedez Benz uses on their sprinter vans).
When I look for something taller that the 80% width-to-height ratio…[Read more]

Hey folks.
Installed the electronic ignition module in Moneypenny, Put the electronic unit in, added the spacer ring for a stock distributor, put the magnetic rotor on, installed the ignition rotor…….the rotor doesn’t go on all the way. Took off the spacer ring and retried it. Same results. Its an ACCU-FIRE Ignition Module from EMPI. Oh…[Read more]

You guys are too kind with your responses. I’m too unfiltered to run for President so here it goes. I’m of the opinion that we should own what we are… With that in mind and as your Honorary Village Idiot, I think my response would sound something like “HEY BUDDY! I GOT YOUR GREY POUPON HANGIN RIGHT HERE!” I would then take his girl for a real…[Read more]

Agreed Kent. We don’t worry or care about the timing at idle. I time it where I run it.

Busy day today. Not only did I correct the hole for the voltmeter, I also got all the Lift-The-Dot studs installed. Except for the doors. I don’t have the side curtains to locate where to attach the studs. Must have left it in storage with the convertible top cover. I’ll get it in the morning.

Well I got a small piece of 1 inch thick mahogany from a friend of mine who milled it down to the thickness of the dash The using his drill press cut a 2-1/4 inch diameter plug. I glued and pressed in the plug (using a large rubber mallet) and let her dry this afternoon. Tomorrow I’ll drill out the hole for the gauge. A 2 inch diameter hole will…[Read more]

That’s the common complaint with non-German Bosch 009s! Out of curiosity, did you time the new, used distributor for total advance (3000-3500 RPM) or at idle? I think I’d try for about 28-30 degrees total advance, and let idle timing fall where it may.
The jet adventure sounds like my luck…
