I just purchased a Fiberfab MGTD kit car with Ford Pinto engine. I’m trying to find as much about it as I can. The vin # for the vehicle is “FM1841 if that is any help. I’m specifically trying to rebuild the carburetor and have the carb # and have purchased a rebuilt kit. The adjustments like float height for example are based on where the engine came from. How do I figure that out?

The vehicle I purchased had been sitting unused for over 1 year with an almost empty gas tank. I filled the tank, drove it 1.5 hours home with no issues except an occasional back fire. The next day I drove it about 10 miles and it died. The filter before the carb was almost blocked by something that looked like tan colored paint strips. I cleaned the filter and added another filter in line with that and tried starting the engine. It ran for about 7 min at idle and died. It acts like the fuel pump fills the bowl with gas and the car runs but the fuel pump can’t keep up with the demand. Pump pressure is 7 psi and looks like plenty of flow. Any help appreciate.
