Looking at the bumps on the aft portion of the running boards, bench seat and the abbreviated front grille, I believe that this is a Daytona MiGi that someone had fun pinstriping. The MiGi’s offer excellent engine access, poor placement of the emergency brake since the body sits about 2″ further to the rear. The windshield mounting brackets are quite different from mine and the gas filler is on the left (mine is under the “radiator cap” leading me to believe that this is a later model MiGi. Otherwise, standard VW based TD replica.
I agree,, London Roadster on a VW pan. As far as I know, All LR’s used Daytona MiGi bodies, that’s why they look like MiGi’s. LR assembled them ,added a few special touches, a really nice interior and then put that gas filler cap on the left side of the hood. I’ve owned one since 1994 and the gas cap has always bugged me.Wish they had left it under the hood.
This thread taught me something today.I thought that the LR’s on VW pans had the bumps on the running boards and that the custom chassis models did not. After reading Roy’s comment the bumps, I looked in the old photo gallery and saw that JBerry’s car has bumps but MGLRoadste’s car does not. Both cars are custom chassis models. You never get too old to learn something new.
