Pretty sure I did not have to take the brakes and stuff apart to replace the whole front beam. I did have the control arms off though, even though I didn’t need to do that either.
Looks like you just need to disconnect them from the wheel with a ball joint separator (a pickle fork will do, since you’re replacing them anyway and so not worried about damaging them) and unbolt the control arms from the torsion spring pack & slide them out.
Then the fun begins.
The ball joints do require the heat wrench for removal, near as I can tell. Then a gabillion pound press to install the new ones, maybe with aid of the heat wrench then as well. That’s why I still have my old ones for now.
