I am restoring a Daytona MIGI. I am presently replacing the floor pans when I noticed that the pedal location looked too far aft. So I put the seat supports on the pan and found the pedals too close for me to drive car.
Looked at manual for the Fiberfab and Custom Couch cars in the Download Manuals section and 23 1/2 inches aft of forward cross support
was given as the location for the pedal hole in tunnel, but the Daytona car has a fiberglass firewall on the body located there.Any one with a Daytona car have any input, I would appreciate it.
December 17, 2009 at 9:59 am #240253Hi Buddy, You may be able to slide a ruler thru the hole in the firewall that the rod from the pedal assembly to the master cylinder passes to check the measurement. Since you need to move them anyway, why don’t you locate them to fit your personal leg length or preference? Also keep in mind the seat position in reference to the steering wheel as these two items are very important to achieving a comfortable driving position. You don’t want to be stretching your legs to reach the pedals while the steering wheel is to close to your upper body.
Be careful to avoid cutting the brake lines, gas line and heater cables as you do these modifications. I remember reading about a guy who cut his gas line and ran out of gas ,glad it wasn’t the brake line!
December 18, 2009 at 7:48 am #240254Ditto that. Since you’ve got it all apart anyway, now’s the time to make it your own, size-wise. If it was me, I might start by getting in my other car, adjusting the seat and wheel to my liking, and then measuring from the seat back to the steering wheel rim, and seat back to the brake pedal. I’d keep those measurements in mind when reassembling the MIGI.
December 18, 2009 at 4:46 pm #240255Thanks for the input, I guess my main concern is the firewall were the pedals would go. The Fiberfab does not show a firewall in this area.
If a Daytona owner is on the forum, could you give me some input.
Thanks for the help,
BuddyDecember 18, 2009 at 5:45 pm #240256Ahh, I think I understand. Apparently these things were not all assembled according to spec. And spec was not always consistent. There will be away to make it right, though. The more experienced boys will very likely chime in with useful info.
January 16, 2010 at 5:16 pm #240257I also have a Daytona Migi built in 1982 on a 71 chassis and motor. I believe it to be all original and I do have an original assembly manual. If you have any questions I can look it up for you.
I am looking for clubs or contacts so I can gather info as well. I am going to Florida soon. Does anyone know of a parts place there. Thanks.
Bob

January 16, 2010 at 7:54 pm #240259Hi Bob, Glad you joined the forum as there is much good info on this site.Your posts are getting thru even tho the page comes up that says they are not.
MG MAGIC in Hollywood Florida has parts for some kits ,mainly Fiberfab/ CMC but many parts will fit other make kits as well. They do not have a website to my knowledge but you can call weekdays and Brad Anderson who is very knowledgable about MG replicas can help you. the # is 954 680 2010. As for general information, search this site for previous posts or ask questions and someone can probably help you with whatever you need to know.
