Paul,
I was checking some photos in the gallery and got lazy and rather than searching for a name through the list I used the search function. Couldn’t find the name in the search. Then, just for grins and giggles, I searched my name and yours using the search function and……….nada. Here’s the search message I get.Thought you might want to know.File Search Results
Your search for newkitman returned the following results:

I’ve found that a good way to test any knowledge base or search engine is to ask a question to which you already know the correct answer.

Haven’t been able to figure this one out. But that doesn’t mean the news is all bad.
A small teaser…
Sometime soon (possibly this weekend, possibly a bit later than that) you will hear from us about a new web site. Same address (www.tdreplica.com) but a brand new look…
…and more importantly, new forum software and new galleries.
The biggest challenge is that we do not want to lose all of the existing posts and pictures. Migrating all of that to a new forum package is a big deal.
This is going to mean a new user interface to learn. But we’ll work to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Stay tuned.Paul Mossberg

May 26, 2016 at 9:43 am #268246Thanks Paul. If there is any cost incurred in making the change over let me know. I’m sure I and other members will gladly chip in to maintain this valuable site. You da man!

Prior donations have us covered for any new software licenses, the move, and any migration expenses. We likely won’t need a funding appeal until this time next year.Paul Mossberg

Stay tuned.I can feel your pain. I’ve been working with the techies as they try to convert my 17 year old forum with 6000+ members and 500,000 posts to a new software base. Ironically, the biggest and most expensive challenge so far has been importing 1500 HTML pages and the 7500 pictures embedded them.
It’s a challenge, indeed! Look forward to the next generation of TD Replica!

Slowly coming back from the ashes...May 27, 2016 at 6:40 pm #268249All the new technology can be challenging. Imagine the poor defense dudes. They’re still using COBOL and 7 inch floppy disks. That’s gotta be a nightmare.I haven’t used COBOL since EARLY in my college days. Ran the program on a TRS-80 system.

May 29, 2016 at 11:44 am #268251We may be offline for a few hours when the transfer happens. I’ve got it mostly scripted but there are some parts I’ll have to do manually after the forum database imports. Waiting for the domain transfer, hopefully will be done within the week.stephenhouser2016-05-29 11:44:29

May 29, 2016 at 3:28 pm #268253Never used the cassette tapes, but I’ve swapped my share of 10″ and 5-1/4″ floppies. Also remember paying almost a grand for my first 10 my hard drive.

Slowly coming back from the ashes...May 29, 2016 at 5:07 pm #268254In 1965 I was a young Marine in Danang Vietnam in a Hawk Missile Battalion and I got the first hard drive the Marine Corps received. It was 5MB, the size of a large washing machine. Inside were 5 platters or hard drives, each 1MB and about 36″ in diameter. When it was running, (It had lots of downtime), it sounded like a herd of horses coming around the bend. I remember a lot of the officers wanted to see my toy, I told them it was highly classified, and I would have to kill them if they saw it, seemed to work, they stopped bothering me.
