Only been listed for 12 hours. Chesterfield, Va. We all have our opinions, my favorite is an Allison. If only I had ……oh well:

Was the Allison TD the only one with the rear side window on the side curtain? I don’t recall seeing them on most of the TDRs.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackJuly 21, 2014 at 10:33 am #260757Very pretty.
I like the opera windows on the top. It’s missing the TD Replica.com grill badge. That’s a major points deduction at a concours.July 21, 2014 at 11:02 am #260758Some other replicas had rear quarter (opera?) windows. My Daytona MiGi has them. Other than the really good fit and finish, what I really like about Allisons is the MG-like side curtains that open with the door. You could argue that the zip/snap side curtains that most of us have will keep you dryer in a rain. You would be correct, but would trade that off for the convenience of the Allison design. Allisons are trimmed with real leather. The Allison doors fit into the tub rather than lay overlap it – this detail is one of many where Allison went the extra mile. The headlight brackets, tailights, and the dash are more correct (MG-like). And of course, the windscreen lays flat. BCW does also.
Second place, on my list, is the BCW. For ease of working on the engine, I like my Daytona, with its rear valence built into the engine cover best. Great access. Each of the designs has its strong and weak points.July 21, 2014 at 9:19 pm #260759That looks like a really nice example.
I agree with Roy about the Allison. I think it’s a little better than the BCW. It encloses the steering column, for instance. The dash is nicer. ABout the only thing the BCW has that the Allison doesn’t is the correct-looking (yet fake) hood latch system instead of the two hinges and two latches that all the other replicars have. You could also make the argument for the BCW’s gas tank/engine cover but I won’t.BCWs have the rear quarter windows but they are built in the single side curtain that fits over each side. Buttoned-up it looks fairly TD-ish but not as much as the Allison’s. That said, the Allison’s curtain is not totally true to the TD, which has four separate side curtains–two front, two back–all of which are installed with pins and clamps (instead of the snaps and zippers we employ). For my money it it totally understandable that neither Allison nor any other kit maker waded into the replica side curtain business.July 21, 2014 at 9:36 pm #260760Only 2hrs into the second day since listing and it’s up to $5,500.
This one has real knock-off wire wheels. But wait,…..I think I recently saw a Daytona MIGI with real British knock-off wire wheels.July 22, 2014 at 5:48 pm #260761With just over 5 days to go in the 7 day ebay listing, Allison has jumped into “real TD” price range – now at $10,600. Go girl, go!

Having had a concours real MGTF-1500 for 16 years, I feel qualified to tell you that the ONLY thing better about a “real” MG is if it is properly cared for, you MAY make more profit when you sell it. But you will have a lot more money invested. If you own a TDr because you think they are fun to own and drive, you have it waiting there for you to take out on a drive. How many “real” MGTD owners drive their cars? (Except in parades and to shows.)You have the perfect drivers TD. A TDr! Brag about it. Enjoy it. SMILE! Be happy.July 23, 2014 at 11:00 am #260765yep I ‘d rather have my TDr ..all the way around!!!
