    @robbaker

    My Ford based Fiberfab rear license plate is mounted on the bumper.  Does anyone know of a quality bracket to move is up on the left fender area.

    Help me spend my money.

    On an original TD, the bracket mounts to an extension that I believe attaches to the rear tire carrier.

    On most replicas I’ve seen, the bracket mounts to a flat steel/aluminum, bent at a ninety degree angle and bolted to the side of the rear engine cover/tank cover.

     Look in  stickney’s photo gallery to see an example of the 2’nd type Paul described . Looks really good . I think it is made of aluminum that has been polished or perhaps stainless. Great attention to detail.

    I edited the response after you posted that Larry.

    I think most of ’em bolt to the side of the rear cover, some are perpendicular, some match the slope of the engine cover.

    Funny, I’m not even sure how my Duchess’ bracket is attached. I’ve got to look at it tonight.

    Thanks guys looks like I’ve got some fabbing to do.  Should be a nice project to work on.   I’ll make a paper template and cut something out of metal.

     Paul,   I had not noticed that the license tag on the originals was vertical and have been trying to keep the one on my BCW positioned at the same angle as the ”gas tank”. I’m headed to the garage to make adjustments. The old saying ”It’s want you learn after you know it all” applies here. Thanks for pointing it out.

    Yeah. And in 1983 when I built my Duchess I definitely didn’t know it all! Thought I did tho!

    I should have checked out some real TDs. Had I done that I would not have mounted my license plate the way I did.

    I’ve got the light and small bracket from the bumper mount and hopefully with some brackets I found down the celler I’ll be able to come up with the mounting bracket.  Car is in NH so this weekend I’ll come up with the plan of attack.  Think I’ll put an aluminum plate behind the plate to clean things up a little.

    I’ll take a picture for you guys when complete.

    My bracket’s not proper, but the trim on the side of the “tank” is already cut for it, so…..

    Thanks for the  reminder about the plate behind the license, that would help dress up the whole thing!
