Hi my name is Tom Im new to this site and the hobby.I just bought a London Roadster not sure what year the VW under the chassie is the title sayes 1984 but I think that is the year the kit was put on.The seller did not have any manual or info to go by other than he told me the car once belong to Jerry Lee Lewis.I have sofar put a lot of money into the car .Paint,Elec system,Rear springs,Ect.Now im faceing a problem with the front suspesion.The shop says the don’t know what kind of car the front susp came from they think it was home made and the brackets holding it all down has been welded.I looked at the manual here and I dont see a diagram or info on it.HELP if any one has a car like mine and knows where I can get the same front suspesion thats on it please email me topcatmodelcars0@yahoo.com

Hi Tommy,

Why don’t you post a couple pictures of the suspention in the gallery. Let us know when they are there and we’ll take a look.

Re the year of the chassis…you will find the original VW VIN stamped into the center tunnel, at the rear of the passenger compartment, adjacent to the shift rod access panel (where it connects to the front of the transaxle) (under your seat).

Look up your VIN (Chassis Serial Number) in the chart below. I only included 1965 through 1974. The full chart for 1948 through 1979 is avaiable at http://www.papafernandez.com/ybdb/serno.html :
