When I got the car it was titled as a 1991 MG, which I knew was wrong. So, I took the title to the DMV and explained to the title person why it was wrong and she agreed, but said she couldn’t just change it. I was sent to the DMV inspection group (Roy had told me that was probably going to happen) and waited two weeks to get an appointment as the inspector said she didn’t get my original voice mail. She showed up a few days later, looked at the car, agreed it should be re-classified, called the office, took some pics and said I’d hear from her the next day. On my second follow up call 2 weeks later, I was told she was no longer with the inspection group and I was sent to the suprv. I related my sad tail to him and he assigned a new inspector and took my contact info. Several days later, the new inspector called and I repeated the sad tail to him. He said he’d check on the status of the first inspector’s report. About 15 min. later he called again and said there was no record of the info collected by the first inspector. I thought..oh great, I wonder how long it will take to get back on the schedule, but not to worry, he asked if I could be at my house by noon the same day and he would come by and “fix this”. He really knew what he was doing. Came to the house, looked at the car, asked a couple of questions, took some pics, stepped to his car, completed his report to have the car titled as a 1951 MG replica, emailed me a copy of the report. Done!! I went to the DMV the next day and got the title changed, registration, and plates. Only took 6+ weeks start to finish! Needless to say I have the inspector’s contact info and will call hime when it is time to get my Cobra inspected.

Almost a carbon copy of my experience, including transfer of the first inspector….and a subsequent second inspection.  Oh well, it’s behind you now.  Congrats.  Smile, be happy.

you both probably got the same first inspector. She will be the cousin or niece of a state senator or something.
