I gotta say, this is one of the things I love about the kit car segment of the auto hobby world…here we have a guy building a bad-ass Cobra, who also wants to complete a VW powered TD!
Gotta love the diversity!

February 16, 2013 at 12:37 pm #254433Paul, it’s funny you should say that. I was talking with a buddy of mine yesterday who owns several VW’s and has rebuilt several engines about eventually rebuilding the engine on this car and I was saying I might go up to 1776cc’s, etc for a little more power and his comment was that for this car 1600cc’s should be plenty of power and besides you already have a 500+ hp Cobra replica for high power !
SamFebruary 16, 2013 at 2:10 pm #254434Sam,
Over the 30 years I have had my TD replica, I went from a 1600, to a 1641 to a 1776.
I’m very pleased with the 1776. Feel “just right” for how I use my car.

February 16, 2013 at 2:34 pm #254435I hear a Subi turbo will fit, in case “just right” is “insane.”
February 16, 2013 at 6:32 pm #254436Paul, what other mods did you do in addition to going to 1776? Carb, cam, other?
