I just bought my 1st MD TD replica (Daytona). It is built on a ’82 VW frame & engine. Would this be a 1500 or 1600 engine?

    Greg,

If the engien is also from an 82, It’s likely a 1600.

The engine case number is stamped into the base of the generator stand.

Find that number and look it up here:

I just found out that 82 was the year this was originally titled. It is a 67 frame & motor. So I guess that would be a 1500??

Never know. I got a ’66 motor (1300) in a ’69 pan. But the motor got fresh jugs to embiggen it to 1500 before it got put in the car. Here is a web site that will tell you what your engine (originally) was & what year the case was manufactured. Possibly helpful when ordering up those internal parts but, really, with these things you mostly gotta take the old part off and then order the new based on what you find.
