    @billnparts

    By chance would anyone have a steering column from the Ford Pinto available? Preferably near southeast PA. My lower bearing has disintegrated and is no longer available.

    I was unable to find the lower bearing I needed. The old one had disintegrated.

    I thought I could adapt something to work in there but there was nothing that matched the ID and OD requirements. I went through all the bearing catalogs I had and even went to a bearing wholesaler who tried and came up empty.

    I finally resorted to taking pieces from a heavy plastic tank I had out back and fashioned a bushing that would fit and epoxied it into place.

    The end result was pretty good. Sorry, there were two photos in this sequence that, no matter what I tried, refused to import into this topic.

    @edsnova

    Dang! Mustang II stock steering parts NLA??

    It’s not this?

    From the little pics it looks like maybe your shaft is just under an inch in diameter and not the standard 3/4 inch, right? But the tube/housing is 2.5 inches i.d., correct? If so, maybe this is your huckleberry.

    Bonus because “race car.”

    You know I like to try things and build stuff out of junk but honestly, I would not fashion a steering part out of an old plastic barrel for a car I planned to repeatedly drive 100 miles an hour up a twisty hill. A hunk of virgin Delrin, though? That I might try.
