I would really like a new steering wheel for my TD. It has one of those 80 dollar amazon ones that is too small to even read the gauges. I really liked the banjoed style wheels I have seen on some people’s TDs. To those who know, are they VW steering wheels? Are they the orginal TD steering wheels? Is there need for an adapter if you buy an original?
Thanks,
-S

You should need an adaptor if your TDr has a VW steering column.
A word of caution, measure carefully. Most VW wheels are over 15 inch diameter. Make sure you have the lap and leg room.
The included adaptors vary by year of the VW.
Here’s one example to get you started:

2005 Intermeccanica RoadsterIf you own a TDr and are not in the Registry, please go to https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/mg-td-replica-registry/ and register (you need to copy and paste the link)

Here’s another source for something like it: https://www.amazon.com/MOTAFAR-Steering-Compatible-Speedster-Varnish-black/dp/B0BS3Q1JWP/ref=asc_df_B0BS3Q1JWP/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693605349091&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10725414206078081387&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007858&hvtargid=pla-2086443029710&mcid=f08aa555f8373d8cb31900899f8bae99&gad_source=1&th=1
I like even better the Brooklands Bluemels banjo wheels you see a lot on MGs, Morgans and Jags of the era. 4×5 wires, 17 inches diameter in the original size. These were also made as knock-offs and I found one (long ago) that bolted up to my Grant 3-bolt adaptor.
If I run across a source for one I’ll post it here.
Also: Grant itself makes a Banjo wheel.
Remember, whatever you get, you want no dish—or as little as possible. A lot of wheels these days have a 2-3 inch dish and that ain’t gonna leave room for your chest.
