Has anyone installed a velocity ring (vortex ring; Venturi ring) on your fan shroud? The sellers of these things claim significant temp. reduction due to the vortex effect of the air flow over the bell-shaped exhaust opening in the shroud with this ring installed.
Here’s a picture and write up (a.k.a. marketing) from the Awesome Powder Coat site. Sounds a lot like MAGIC, huh? Any experience with this method of reducing engine temperature?
Thanks, Jack
To get the maximum possible cooling out of your VW
you need a velocity ring (also called a volute ring, or
just a cooling ring). This is an American made model
fuel injected fan shrouds. Cooling is improved by increasing the air velocity
through the fan. The rings are all stainless steel
construction, with spot welded mounting tabs and a
satin black power coated finish. They can be installed
on any factory or aftermarket doghouse fan shroud by
welding or rivets.
A version for the early fan shroud is also available.
