Hey Allen
Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out later after work. The wipers are on my list of things to rebuild as I’m rewiring my MG kit. I’m hoping that after I’m done, she’ll be ready to last me well into an early retirement. Many have asked me if I wanted to sell her but I tell them that I plan to grow into a real crusty old geaser with Eliza Jane.
Also, for those of you who keep replacing those push pull switches that seem to need replacing every year, if you’re using them daily, I think I’ve found the cure. I’m putting in new switches from So Cal speed shops. They are heavy duty and they have a wide selection of knob styles. I’m even pulling out the VW steering column with the ignition switch and other wiring and replacing it with an ignition switch that will mount on the new wooden dash. The steering wheel will mount on a new thinner steering shaft without the wiring. I’m also installing two horns, one will be the ahooga horn for the charm and the other one will be a train horn for “YOU’RE ABOUT TO HIT ME AND LOSE YOUR HOUSE!”
thanks again for the Hot VWs tip I really appreciate the advice from those of you with the great experience to share. It’s been a real help for a novice like me.
