My recent purchase doesn’t have the “Z” brackets that Fiberfab shows that go behind the front splashpan that the bumper brackets mount to…
The previous owner had simply bolted a front bumper face plate to the fiberglass splashplan with bent aluminum brackets — no backer bar, wrong brackets and nothing to transfer the force back to the front torsion bar…Anyone know of a source for these, or the CMC ones that look even stronger?Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan

You posted info about the Moss Motors retailer. Doesn’t he have them?Paul Mossberg

April 10, 2013 at 2:15 pm #255405If I recall correctlly, MG Magic has or had them. Not sure of the price. I do know they have the bumper back bars (pricey) which I didn’t have but I got mine at Lowes. Cut them to length and drill them to fit.

I’m getting all the parts from the fiberglass splashpans outward from him, but these, like the rear bumper supports appear to be unique to these replicas… and go between the fiberglass shell and the frame.

MG Magic’s price list shows these bumper parts (summarized):Facebar, front or rear, for $179.00 each (they’re different, need one of each)Over-rider, $49.85 each (four needed)Overrider trim strips, $2.95 per overrider or $8.95 for all 4 overridersBumper bracket, front or rear, for $59.85 each (they’re different, need 2 front and 2 rear)Bumper Back Bar, $49.50 each (also different, need one of each)Bumper Spacer, $2.85 each (four needed)Bumper Bolt with nut, $2.95 each (at least four needed for the exposed ones – ones behind the over-rider may not be chrome)That’s why I was so pleased with the $600 price quote that I got for all that stuff, in the quantities needed – 2 facebars, 4 overriders (including trim strips), 4 bumper brackets, 2 back bars, and the required bolts…If my math is correct, that is $719.60 — which is the same as what Rob told me the retail from Moss Motors…So, I’m guessing MG Magic is a Moss retailer… and simply lists the parts separately.
