Zella’s new shoes came in, along with with some other goodies.

Here’s a pod filter I bought along with a 2″ silicone 90* elbow and a 2″ polished stainless 45* sanitary elbow to try to get the filter tucked horizontally up against the fan tins above the generator.  I don’t have clearance to mount it directly on the…[Read more]

Well my tires should be here Thursday, and for now I went with a cable shortening kit from EMPI instead of converting to a hydraulic clutch for now.  I just don’t have the time to tackle that project right now.

I’ve had an issue with Zella ever since I got her in the air filter department.  The engine cover underneath the spare tire carrier has n…[Read more]

Well my update is there is no update.  😉

In all seriousness though, I’ve got a few things I need to do to Zella first thing this year.  I’ll be getting some tires ordered this week and hopefully a hydraulic clutch kit as well.  The fact that my wife is every bit excited as I am to get her back out on the road really helps my progress.

    Those sh…[Read more]

Thanks guys!  He’s an absolute blessing!  I took the whole month of July off, so between helping my wife take care of Stirling, I’ve been busting my butt in the garage.  Almost ready for spray foam.

I went to push Zella out of the garage the other day and the left rear tire had split at the shoulder and won’t hold air any longer.  I will thr…[Read more]

Well, zero progress has been made on the car.

My wife blessed me with a beautiful and healthy son, July 1st at 10:16am.  His name is Stirling.

Thanks Ed.  I’d much rather stick with an American made tire, if I can find them.  Ironic, I know, considering the origin of half the car.

Thanks Kall, I’m fairly certain it’s the tires.  They’re original, but with the baby here within a few weeks, Zella’s going to have to wait to get new shoes.

Thanks guys.  I spent more time working on Zella today that I should have spent on my garage, but it was hot again so I decided the shade of the garage was much better.

I found I hadn’t preloaded the clutch cable enough.  After a few bouts with tightening the cable, I was beginning to feel a clutch.  A hydraulic clutch conversion will be high on…[Read more]

Well I decided to spend a few hours with Zella yesterday afternoon and she’s alive!

I changed the oil as it smelled of fuel and was way overfull.  I’m guess she puked the contents of the tank into the crankcase from sitting all this time.  I also cleaned the oil strainer and noticed a good amount of sludge in the bottom of the strainer cover.  …[Read more]

Well after a ton of work over the last few days, she’s finally home.  Please forgive the mess that currently passes as my work bench.  Still in the process of sorting through all my tools.

A downpour began just as I slipped her inside the garage.

Well my wife and I watched 5 or 6 rolls of 8mm the other night.  1969 Worlds Fair in Montreal, Mackinac Bridge, and a few videos from his time in the Navy in 1955.  Some really neat videos of their gunships doing weapons training in the ocean off of Japan.Nothing of the car at this time.  I figured since he was sort of a nostalgic type he would ha…[Read more]

We had a family reunion today on my mom’s side so I brought the briefcase along.  I sat it on the table and a few family members knew immediately that they had seen it before and were super happy that I was able to buy the car.

So we spent the next hour or so looking through photo albums that my great-aunt had that had various pictures of my…

Thank you guys very much!  I only wish I had a lab, and if everything goes the way I have it in mind, next year there will be at least a 40×60 building be erected in my yard.  My lovely wife agreed to it last year but then we discovered a baby would be making way into our lives so we decided to hold off a year.

Here’s grandpa’s briefcase that he did the leatherwork on.  I’m finding out more and more about him and his skills.  He was a barber, a leathersmith, sold insurance, and finally a Rep for British Coach Works prior to his death.  And inside of it…Again, once we get a rainy day I’ll scan most everything I have to share with you folks.

So gauge accuracy seem to be a hot topic with these cars.  I’ve always enjoyed the look of vintage aircraft instruments and I’ll eventually be purchasing some old instruments and will install stepper motors in them to make my own gauges for Zella’s cockpit.Microprocessors that are capable of this (like an Arduino for less than $30) are easi…[Read more]

Thanks for that!  I work at a steel mill and am able to source some pretty hefty steel plate pieces for scrap price.  I should be able to hide them here and there if needed.

But I guess I’m getting the cart before the horse, so to speak.  I haven’t even driven her to see how she handles.
I ran through all of the receipts today.  I found the orig…

I’m going to try to keep the clutter to a minimum in this thread, so I’ll quickly answer your questions with rhetorical question.  Why does it matter so much to you whether or not I masked a license plate in a picture?

So please, let’s keep the rest of this thread on track and get back to the car.  Thumbs Up
