    Roger O. started the topic duchess/chevy chevette- will only start in park in the forum General Discussion 8 years ago

    I was given a classic roadster duchess/ work in progress project car.  Its on a 85 chevette chassis.  The car will only start in neutral not in park.  Any Ideas?

    Also have been trying to remove the gear shift knob to replace but it will not budge… Any ideas would be appreciated.

      My best guess is that it is ground issue, check your ground ! try a new ground neutral switch, as far as your shift knob if auto and you want to replace with the same hit with rubber mallet on the top , buy a new replacement
