     Hello from a new owner of a red replicar. the finish seems fairly oxidized. What is the best method and products to return the shine?

    Welcome Tom,

    First question…paint or gel coat?

    Assuming gel coat, I’ve had great success with Meguiars line of boat polishes and waxes.

    This link is to Meguiars boat/RV page. I do not use the “premium” line. I use the standard line of products (in the blue bottles), just click the polish and wax links on the left and look around.

    The Classic Roadsters Duchess in my photo gallery is 25 years old (pmossberg gallery). It’s the original red gel coat from Classic Roadsters.

    For some reason the link in my prior post goes to the car care line. Just use the links in left hand pane to get to the boat/RV products.

    I would also right-click the link above and open it in a new window or tab. Otherwise it opens within the forum pane of the tdreplica site and limits your view.

    Good luck. These are tough cars to rub out because of all the compound curves. The good news is that gel coat is much thicker than paint. So chances are excellent you will be able to bring out the shine again.

    to add to Paul’s great info:

    3M also makes a complete line of gel-coat restoration and care products. These are available at any good Marine supply. I am lucky, we have a West Marine store close by.

    Also, 3M and Meguiar make a clear plastic cleaner and “polish” for the convertible top rear window and side windows. It keeps them scratch free and clear.

    I also buy most of my “brightwork” and hardware at a Marine Supply too. The stuff is higher quality and the hardware is stainless steel.
