I was lucky – worked with Palo Alto Upholstery….the guy listened to exactly what I wanted, then produced exactly what I wanted…how rare is THAT….
May 29, 2011 at 1:31 pm #244886Bill, It looks “GREAT”. Hows the MG on the back rest?
The seat botoms look different, did he do something to make them contoured? Extra foam or something? I think all of us are trying different things to make the bottoms more confortable, anyway more than a board with foam and vinyl on it. Montie
May 29, 2011 at 1:46 pm #244887Bill, Truly a unique interior. You must be a tall guy as far back as the backrest is positioned. Could you post more pics of how you got it there.? We recently had a member to sell a car that he had just purchased because his legs were too long and he had to remove the backrest to drive it.
We would like to see more of the entire car too.It looks really nice in the interior picture.

It looks like he did something similar to mine. I had the back narrowed 1″ on each side and moved it to the top of the tub instead of in front of it. It is still hinged so you can adjust the angle, upper side mounts had to be moved too but was well worth the work. I gained about 3″ to 4″ of space between me and the steering wheel. It is almost flush, just enough space for a small lumbar cushion below the back rest and on top of the seat. I made it removable so I could still have the storage under the seats. I think there is a photo in my gallery showing it without the extra cusion.

May 29, 2011 at 8:54 pm #244889Thanks Montie. I checked your gallery and then I remembered seeing the seats when you first posted them. Just goes to show that where there’s a will, there’s a way. That’s a real good looking TD you’ve got.
May 30, 2011 at 7:51 am #244890Clean looking job, Bill. I am learning how much work goes into an interior revamp.
May 30, 2011 at 11:09 am #244891Various answers:
– seats are VERY thick…and I ordered extra firm foam..mainly because the original seats were so godawful.
– not so tall…6’1″, but had them make the back rest thinner and contoured so that I wasn’t so up against the wheel
– along those lines, next to the backrests, instead of foam is really hard plastic, so that it won’t wear getting in and out of car
– the only real issue remains my feet are 10 4E…and dealing with the clutch is a pain. I had them remove everything on the wall left of the clutch and install black plastic (like above) there…this helps a bit, but still easier to drive barefoot…just too tight. Any ideas on that (other than getting my feet trimmed) would be appreciated.More pics later…still have one minor project before posting more.

June 16, 2011 at 1:18 pm #244893Bill, where did you get your seats made? You said you ordered extra firm foam. Is this vendor available to me and others? Your interior looks great.
June 21, 2011 at 8:41 pm #244894Sorry for the late reply….I specified extra firm foam – I have NO idea where Palo Alto Upholstery got it.
Dan, thanks! Work in progress, but coming along…
