There has been recent talk about floorpan replacement. My question: is the only thing that makes the pans year model specific the seat track difference in year models? If so it wouldnt pertain to our replicas as we dont use the seat tracks. The reason I ask is mine are patched and due for replacement and at times I have found the heavy gage pans, but not in my 74 year model. I am talking standard beetle to standard beetle and only year difference.

JBugs has separate part numbers for:

1946 to 1970 “standard” Beetle floor pans.
    1971 and 1972
    1973 to 1977

The year-specific pages imply the only difference is the seat rails.

That “center hump” on the 1973 to 1977 bothers me. It appears to be just more stuff to cut off the pans.

I believe any year will work. Especially since even Standard and Super Beetles share floor pans.

I bought the older style — it required a whole lot less work to remove the seat tracks.
