Well Thought I would start a project post.This car is a puzzle as it was completly dismantled,and fit in the back of my truck.I have made some progress with getting the body wood in place.It has been a pain,fit the wood,fit the panel check fit and clearance,remove the panel to secure the wood,refit the panel so the next piece of the puzzle can be fitted.Then when its all said and done there’s double body work to be done,sand and contour the wood and fill as needed,then body work on the panel itself.Oh and lets not forget waiting for glue to dry before moving on to the next section.I like working with steel so much better,cut it weld it grind it your done.Sorry so current pics,hope to have some soon.Here is one of the mess after I got it home.
Interesting project buzz. I was under the impression the original TD used wood only for the floors. I guess I was wrong. I’ll have to visit that TD site Paul posted and do some additional reading. That’ll have to be inbetween working the yard, selling my stepson’s 98 Honda, and assisting my step daughter with her new arrival (my step grandson (?) Carson. newkitman2012-09-22 12:18:07

The hardest part was finding the correct angles and mesurements for all the wood.Plenty of pics on the net of rebuilding a “TUB” but no dimentions.I did finally come across someone that did post this needed info with his pics.
I have most of the wood in place,Have to fit and secure two pieces for the rear(hopfully today)then it’s sanding time to fit the panels.
Buzz, that’s spectacular. All the old T series people say redoing the rotted wood is THE major PIA with most of the “barn finds” and other old examples advertised. Looks like you’ve got it mostly licked. Hat’s off.
BTW yesterday, on the way home from a funeral, I spotted a ’53 TD on the Merritt Parkway in Hamden. Cream fenders and green (yeah, green, not brown, I’m pretty sure) body. So sorry I had not brought Bridget up so we could have pulled alongside him. Unfortunately, red TDs are neither very funereal nor well-suited to traversing the Cross Bronx Expressway after midnight.
