Here’s a nice video to whet everyone’s appetite for the Carlisle AutoX. Pretty much it will be just like this.

Ed, Julie says that I should not go this fast in MiGi and that I “should try and keep her below 120mph.”

As the great Dan Gurney said, “At no time did we exceed 175 miles per hour.”

Mike Hawthorne was wrongly blamed for the horrendous 1955 crash that killed 80 spectators. He was later exonerated but the rumors still persist.

Yes. I think it was a guy in a Deuche Bonnet interacting with one of the Mercedes drivers that caused the disaster.

Did anyone notice how ergonomic that microphone holder was? The guy on the bicycle didn’t have much time to react to the approach of the “under 175 MPH” auto did he? Why were the bicycles on the course anyway? Is LeMans run on public roads?

Yes. LeMans is run on public roads.

The course is only closed for the race, qualifying and official practice sessions.

This video was not taped during a scheduled practice session.

    So the public had access.

    Circuit de la Sarthe

All of the track is on public roads.

The track within the track in the lower left is the Bugatti Circuit.

The dotted portion of Bugatti is permanent and not used in the 24 hours.

I cannot access YouTube from work so I am not able to verify the link.

But this should be a video tour of the public roads that make up the Circuit de la Sarthe:

Thank you, the link worked just fine.

I wish they had mounted the camera lower so we could see further ahead.
The guy driving did have it lined up just right for us to see his head in the rear view mirror. 🙂
