I was surfing the web and looked in eBay for MGTDs. There is a 1948 MG TC for sale for $79,000. If you look at the photos, the 8th photo shows where the spare spark plugs were stored. Here’s the link.

Beautiful car. Totally believe owner spent that much getting it professionally restored and upgraded, but why? I could buy a lot of other great cars or other toys for $80K.

I’ve seen that car for sale a couple times before. Really stunning–maybe the best one there is. Lot of minor mods that take away from originality but increase function. The 5 speed. The combo oil pressure/temp gauge (first came in ’52).

I wouldn’t throw it out of my garage, but $80k is, indeed, a lot of butter.

That steering wheel is pretty tight though.

Ed, I fully agree with you.  But, have you ever driven a TC?  Despite what the Red Car book that we all read leads us to believe, I beg to differ with it’s analysis of a TC as an excellent racing machine.  They are very high center of gravity and the normal 19″ skinny tires and poor braking do not give a feeling of security at speed.  I most definitely felt that 45mph was max comfortable cruising speed. Driving one with a supercharger would scare the heck out of me.  None of the original T types are even close to our TDrs for comfort or handling.

All that being said, this is one beautiful droolworthy MG.  I would be a most proud owner (in my next life when I have the bucks).
