So as winter is coming, meaning rain and cold. My big problem right now is that I have no windshield wipers…
The motor and everything is there just no wiper arms. What length do I need? And then how do I replace the blades if they are a custom or hard to find length?That is the big thing for now, everything else I just need make the time to do it. Such as getting heater boxes and installing them, and taking the canvas top in to get a new one made. (Although if you know anyone in northern CA with some heater boxes for sale PM me!)And one “last” thing. I will be getting new windshield glass soon, but my frame has a bunch of holes in it (from the snaps for the door panels I think) but I don’t have the door panels, nor will I get any due to having a fiberglass hard top that has doors (that will work perfectly, after some modification of course)But I would like to find a new frame somewhere. Not necessary but if there are any places where I could find one that would be cool. (moss does not have all the frame bits available, and that wont fit on my fiberfab anyway)Thanks!Here’s one source for new:
Most of us have “sourced” the windshield wipers and blades to match our specific donor car. Note that the arms need to match the specific windshield motor. If yours is VW based, do you know the year of the donor? You’d need to shorten the blades for the shorter windshield, but that is pretty readily done. But, the wiper arms must match the shafts that stick up through your cowling…KentT2013-10-22 15:42:46

Slowly coming back from the ashes...Oi! That’s expensive! Haha, looks like a nice one though. For now I’ll keep the old frame and start saving for a new one.
Yeah, its a 70/71 VW donor. And I would assume that new arms would be relatively easy to find for a VW. I’ll call around town and see if there are any local, otherwise I’ll get some off the interwebs.Try the classifieds in http://www.thesamba.com
