I have a ’83 Daytona MGTD replica. I use the side curtains only when she’s parked outside in rainy conditions. As I was putting them on this morning (possible showers) I noticed the zippers had pull tabs inside and out, implying they could be zipped from the inside. I thought about it and thought if I snapped the buttons along the door and got in I should be able to zip the window up but that would leave some snap undone along the aft end of the curtain. Any suggestions?

Classic Roadsters Litd. side curtains have an additional zipper under teh side window. You can open that, reach through and attach the curtain to the windshield frame (and pay tolls in the days before EZ-Pass).

Without that additional access zipper … attach all the snaps on the door at at the rear of the curtain. Start the zipper (which I hope zips from rear to front). Let the curtain fold down on itself. Get in and finish zipping the curtain to the roof. Then use one of these tools to snap the curtain to the windshield frame:

You can also attach the curtain everywhere except the door, including zipping the curtain to the roof. You’d get into the car by doing the limbo under the curtain. Not elegant, but it works (and I have done it!). Then use the tool above to attach the curtain to the door snaps. This might be easier as there is probably less tension at those snaps than at the windshield frame.

    Thanks bdriver. Appreciate the help!

I didn’t do much searching. Just wanted something to show.

Please allow me to add to Paul’s instructions.

I removed the set screws on the slide that tensions the bows, and replaced with small knobs from Tractor Supply.  Put
a dull point on  the screws and then you can, without an Allen, loosen the bows.  This makes erecting and putting side curtains in much easier – at least on mine.

    Paul,

    It was a good find.

I bought one. It will pay for itself the first time I don’t tear a snap.

I found that the best way to use the side curtains is to keep them wrapped up in a bungee cord in a plastic garbage on a shelf in your shop .

I purchased that snap tool on Royal’s advice last year and was surprised how much easier it was to fasten the snaps. It’s well worth the money.

The Top-Snapper arrived. The directions show you how to open and close snaps from inside and outside. The designer thought about the problems this tool solves. There is a thin part of the blade that will catch the inside of a snap and enable you to pull it closed from inside the car.

The instructions are in two languages. The second is French.
