Seeing is believing, I guess.  1952 MGTD (Real One), with a 1957 392 hemi.  The kid sure looks happy and wants to tear that Corvette up.  See link for full article.

    I dunno, Bill–maybe it’s just me, but it seems a crime . . .

It’s a capital crime, but the kid will pardon his dad for this moment of bliss.

A “capital” crime in more ways than one. …hmmm, a nicely restored 1952 TD with it’s original, albeit puny, 1250cc engine $25-35k. A hemi franken-TD??? Maybe $10-15 depending upon how much the buyer has had to drink.
Plus, it just ain’t a proper thing to do.
I may drive and be proud of my replica, but I didn’t wreck a MGTD to do it.

I gotta call you out on this one, Roy. I watch TD sales and I’ve seen very few sell for more than $20k. Plenty priced that way, not so many sold. Sort of like the replicas that get the tile floor showroom photo shoot and the $13,499 price tag.

Nice, driver TDs go for about $12,000. Very nice cars are about $18k. A concourse-100% car might–just might–get $25,000. I know of only one that got more–that hinky auction jobby a couple years back. And I remain convinced that that sale was part of some kind of scam.
Now, I’ll grant you: a Hemi TD might not be worth more than a real one. Depends on the build quality, I think–and how much the buyer has had to drink!

    UNCLE! I give!
I really only follow TDr prices anymore.
I still don’t like it, but I guess there are some that would. I wouldn’t park next to him at a show.
Two years ago, I went to a hot rod show. They didn’t look twice at my MiGi. The hot rod custom people would certainly like the hemi-TD.
