Hi to all. I have a Ford Pinto based ff one of my issues is the rear wheels/axil the wheels do not sit in the wheel arch as they should they are to far to the rear and it looks odd plus they rub on the arch over bumps. Given the rear springs are located as per they should be what could be the cause? any thoughts.

"Drive Happy"July 7, 2015 at 10:35 am #264063Hi guys sorry for the delay. The car has been in the shop and the rear axil has been moved forward, prop shaft shortened and the wheels are in the center of the fender arch and it looks good. The springs are the half springs as they should be. Now a new location hole and some adjustments, all done. I will try and post some pics.

July 7, 2015 at 8:04 pm #264064If you haven’t installed one already, invest in the installation of a panhard rod to minimize the cornering stress on those cut springs. The original setup does nothing about keeping the body centered over the rear suspension during cornering. All the cornering stress is delivered to the mounting pad at the front of the spring. My spring leaves eventually cracked.

"Drive Happy"August 26, 2015 at 4:11 pm #264065Hello pool of knowledge, I just measured for the new drive shaft for my CMC TDr. I was surprised to find that the new length will be from 21.5 inches to 25 inches long. This seems rather short but it looks to be right. I measured from U-joint center to U-joint center. Thanks, JohnnyB, Meridian, MS

"Drive Happy"August 27, 2015 at 4:11 pm #264067I forgot to mention that I’m using a 1978 Pinto, 2.3l with 4 speed manual tranny. Now I’ll try to find someone who can shorten and balance the D-shaft. Thanks all, JohnnyB
