Got as far as Denver PA this morning and met up with Royal and Billnparts just off the Penna Turnpike. When we were leaving to get back on the road my car wouldn’t start. Roy and Bill gave us a shove and it started right up but no sooner had we past the tollbooth that it died on the run. Bill call me and offered to turn around but I didn’t see the sense in them being stuck on the side of the road with me. So I fooled around a little, found a burnt fuse, replaced it, with no changes. Called AAA, the truck driver couldn’t do much more than I could so I had it towed back to my guy in Broomall. He’s looking it over now but says it probably will take until tomorrow.
So much for the show. It was really nice to meet Roy and Bill, even if just so briefly, and I guess I will try again for VA Beach in October.Such is life.Vicenç - (bee sense)

Sorry for your trouble Vicenc, and hope to see you and your car in Va beach. Just so you know–and I know it’s unbelievable, towing a broken car to the Marriott parking lot during Carlisle weekend is not only acceptable, but actually encouraged. VW experts abound, and cars get fixed–usually for free. And if for any reason a car can’t be made road-worthy, a spare tow bar appears to help the unlucky owner get his ride home safe and sound. This is how newbies become solids; how strangers become friends.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys! It’s back on the road, the voltage regulator was the culprit. Got a new one in and now almost everything is back to normal. I am really disappointed that we couldn’t get to Carlisle but there”s always next year.

These voltage regulators all need to be replaced every 30-40 years. Mine went haywire two summers ago on the way to Pittsburgh. Luckily, the previous owner had stashed a spare under the passenger seat.
