Well;If my speedometer is correct I was goin around 60,but it was most likey my own fault as I looked over my left shoulder and there the hat went.
I have come to realize if I stay right around 3000 rpm,I get good milage and the MG handles ok.
Still need a vw tech that knows how to do an alignment.

How fast were you going when you lost your hat?  I like wearing driving caps, but don’t trust them to stay on at highway speeds.

I typically only wear a hat while fishing,or at shows.But with no top U have to keep the sun off the larger forehead somehow.

Just saw your post.
Do you have a vw based or other?,chevy/ford?
If you want the look of a real tire on the back,I just put a doughnut spare on mine,no rim,just bolted the tire to the cover and bolted the hub-cap to the tire.,and put the real spare under the hood.

Turned out to be the lead to the electric choke. The wire fell off and then hid between the carb and the generator. I found it by feel–it was hot ’cause it was a ground short. Squeezed the terminal end a pinch and put it back, and away I went.

 Todd, MG Magic lists a spare tire mounting bracket for about $60.00. It says that you must use one designed for a Chev/Ford kit to cover the hole on the VW kits.They list one for the VW for about $30.00 but I’m thinking it is for the cars that did not have the fake spare tire which may have had a smaller hole in the engine cover.

Just run it and hang on.make changes later.Your going to have over 300 horse in a plastic car that weighs maybe 2000 pounds with a small block.

Here’s another valve adjustment tip;you should use 3 feeler gauges;if your setting calls for 6 use a 5 and a 7.the 5 should go through and the 7 should not.The reason behind this is the amount of drag for each person setting vavle clearance is different.

Do you have any lights at all? The flashers were working or not? Any electrical power anywhere? If not, check your battery cable connections at the battery and the negative also at the body or engine ground. Something vibrated loose somewhere.
