Mycar came with the fender mounted mirrors and a round Harley mirror on the dash. I could see a spot right behind me but nothing to either side so I put a TD style mirror on the dash and that works great. I bought a left side mirror from Mg Magic that clamps onto the windshield and it works great! I had to insert a chunk of aluminum into the…[Read more]

The boat repair/repainter I bought my MiGi from sugested painting with a high quality and durable paint called Imron (by DuPont, I believe). He even offered to paint it for me if I did the prep work. I would probably not paint a fiberglass car black because it shows all the little imperfections that are inherant to fiberglass. Did you ever notice…[Read more]

Larry,
I like the idea of the vinyl on the area behind the rear seat. I might doo that with my CMC FiberFab kit except for the floor and wheel well arches behind the rear seat area. I’ll carpet those. I guess I could use some butcher paper to make templates for a place here in town that does seats and tops. They may do the carpets for me if I…[Read more] -

Allen, In most TD replicas, the area behind the seat and the front side panels are covered with carpet. The London Roadster and Classic Roadster Duchess used vinyl every where except the floor and tunnel. This is the way that the original MG’s were done. For the most part it is simply a matter of covering some type of backing board with the…[Read more]

Donna, Some of our members have used the Maaco franchise for their paint work.I’m not for sure but I think Jeniken used them . See his photo gallery ,it shows to what extent his car was disassembled for the paint job. I recently saw a 39 Chev sedan that they did. The car was a quality street rod $40,000 The paint looked really good.It will not…[Read more]

I agree with Larry. If you get fender mirrors, get convex. I didn’t and they’re pretty much useless. In fact I don’t even use them. they’re there for looks only. I have a rearview dash mirror and I installed peep mirrors on each side. Again I wish I had gotten a convex peep mirror for the right side. It’s not very useful. The left peep mirror and…[Read more]

Since I replaced the Cobra style interior mirror with the one from an original MG, I have to peep arround the right side of the mirror to see the right fender mirror because the MG style mirror is taller.I too have 4 outside mirrors, being a retired trucker, I believe that you cannot have too many. I strongly recommend using the convex mirrors on…[Read more]

Here is one that I used on the registry map last year. I made it in a 3D program and photoshop, it could be perhaps used somewhere on a card. I had started to make one with a TD in place of the sled, but it gave the appearance that the car was broken down and had to be towed behind the reindeer, so I dumped the reindeer and had Santa driving the…[Read more]

Just FYI: paint will stick to gel coat as well as anything. Prep requires dewaxing , a 400-600 grit wetsand, and primer–same as any other car. So if it’s way gone (not likely) or you want to change color (as my car’s PO did), you can get it shot an any competent auto paint shop. No need to use a specialized ‘Vette place.

I can just about see mine but I gotta kinda stretch my neck up, on account of being on the short side (5-7). I’ve yet to get any of my (4) side view mirrors in an adjustment I like, but since I’m 99 percent of the time driving top-down sunny, I find it easier to glance sideways before changing lanes, etc.

That’s another topic that you should search for here. I believe you’re car has a real MG grille shell. Several people have done their grille slats and posted the method and results here.

Most fiberglass boats are gel-coat too. So, a good marine supply (West Marine, etc.) will have gel-coat refinishing products. Dupont also makes some.
I watched an episode of Ship Shape TV once that highlighted refinishing gel-coat that was really gnarly. Google Ship Shape TV and see if there is info you can use. -

Donna, As Larry said get the grill slats from MG magic. I also have a Daytona Migi and they are slightly different shaped. The cockpit slopes down a bit in the back where the fiber fab and CMC ‘s go straight This makes the tops for those cars a couple of inches too short in the back. Brad at MG magic is very knowledgeable and can tell what other…[Read more]
