Great idea. I never considered using the starter solenoid. I was prepared to install and run a power distibution block, or install an acc. solenoid. Sometimes simple things are over looked.

Welcome to the forum!Lots of good info here on the site. As far a relays go, I had a problem with the main fuse blowing when I ran the headlights for a long time. The problem was the same as what you’re describing, wires too long with too much voltage drop. I put relays up at the front, close to the lights and ran main power direct from my…[Read more]

Paul, Thanks for the additional info. The velcro on the webbing is a great idea. I am using 2 belts stolen from my wife,I mean borrowed. Velcro would be much easier to work with. Yes I was able to use the side curtains for the previous top,by putting snaps on them and on the flaps on the top. I attached the top to the body using the extra flap…[Read more]

That’s pretty cool Larry. Are you able to use the side curtains too?George, if you are considering Larry’s approach, check carefully what the final height of the roof will be. If I lowered my roof two inches, I would no longer fit under it.Also, you will need straps to hold the front bar at the correct angle. One for each side, they wrap around…[Read more]

dbrock,
Not sure about the Migi 2 wiring. I went through my wiring when I first got mine and went back & forth between that diagram and the VW factory manual wiring diagram and there were very few (only minor) differences in what I saw (and updated) in my car. I’m not sure if the previous owner made everything identical to the ’69 VW wiring l…[Read more] -

I have a secret to reveal. The rear view mirrors on the sides of the windshield are actually Suzuki motorcycle mirrors.

Hi George. Welcome to the group.I am new also and I saw your question about a top in the forum. Iordered atop for a `real” MG fromconvertible top guys on the web.I had to cut about 2 in. off each end of the rear top bow,to lower it to fit at the correct position in the top. Then I wrapped the front edge of the top arround the flat metal piece t…[Read more]

Hello GeorgeMy experience with carpet is that it’s always better to use the old for a pattern. You can then take it someone or cut out some yourself. Be aware that most auto carpets are formed to fit over the tranny hump, foot well and sides so that a flat piece of carpet cut to the pattern may still not fit well. You can form the carpet to fit…[Read more]

Paul,
Thanks for the info. I looked at the pictures and figured out that I do in fact have the complete frame. There really isn’t much to it and at least I can bring the vehicle and frame to an upholsterer and have a top made. I sent an email to the guy I bought it from asking if he had the old side curtains sitting around anyplace so at le…[Read more] -

Talk about brain-dead! I just found the wiring diagram in the manual section. It is for a MiGi 2, and I have a MiGi, but I assume that most of the info is the same. What was the difference between the two?

George,
I found a couple other helpful pictures for you.
There is a picture in Hobbyjim’s folder, showing a top frame, with no top on it. So you can really see how the frame goes together.
And there is a good side view in the Robert gallery folder, which shows both roof bars. -

George,
There are a few picutures of my Duchess with the roof up in the Gallery in the PMOSSBERG folder. There’s no close up of the roof bars. But you can get an idea of how the two hoops are connected, and the roof line they form. -

Hi George,
It sounds like you have the entire top frame. The larger hoop forms the rear edge of the roof. The smaller hoop mounts to the large hoop, angled towards the windshield, and forms the peak of the roof over the driver and passenger heads. - Load More
